Kate Somerville Age Arrest Hydrating Firming Mask

Kate Somerville Age Arrest Hydrating Firming Mask C$90

My thoughts on Kate Somerville Age Arrest Hydrating Firming Mask, well, this is how the story goes down. I walked into Sephora to receive a mini facial. Side note: I will have one of the girls give me a mini facial if I`m unsure of the product, only because my skin is super sensitive. I`m working on reducing the sensitivity with a new face mask. This funny, lovely, awesome, patient girl performs a mini facial on me. She had thought because this line is dermatologist-tested, it`s for sensitive skin and dehydrated skin, all will be good. Nope. My face went red like a tomato. It didn`t burn, though, that`s the good news. I am not saying don`t use this product. What I am saying, however, if your face is picky, like mine is, or contains a high level of sensitivity, like mine, I wouldn`t recommend this. Try it out at Sephora if you`re unsure. The girl and I had a good few laughs over this, as she was trying a few products to calm my inflamed skin down. Yes, redness does indicate that the skin is inflamed. What did she use? I will mention the product that was used, plus which mask I did end up purchasing. Needless to say, I was at Sephora for at least an hour. Crazy!

Here are the details of the product below:

A firming and hydrating mask to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, increase skin firmness and elasticity, and significantly moisturize skin.

What it is formulated to do:

Fresh: Rose Face Mask

Fresh Rose Face Mask C$75

I want to begin by saying that I have used many products from Fresh, in fact I`m using their moisturizer right now (Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream with Super 7 Complex C$56), without any negative reactions, only positive reactions. My current day face mask is from Fresh. So, I don`t have any qualms against fresh at all.  Anyway, this face mask was given to me as a sample at Sephora. I had used it for a week. All was fine with my skin. When I say my skin is sensitive, I kid you not. I don`t have rosacea, and yes, sensitive skin can lead to rosacea. Rosacea does derive from sensitive skin. That is a topic for another day, another post. What I`m about to reveal does not mean if your skin is sensitive that it isn`t for you, it just wasn`t for my level of sensitivity, and with my picky skin. After a week of using this mask, I awoke with a swollen eye. I immedialtely threw out the mask. Rose isn`t for everyone whether your skin is sensitive or not. Some people like it and some people do not. Now, I can use subtle amount of rose in products, just not rose petals or a large amount. Let`s just say, this formula was fresh all right, a little too fresh for my skin. Haha.

Skin Care Benefits of Chocolate

Image result for chocolate

Dark Chocolate May Protect Your Skin Against The Sun. The flavonols can protect against sun-induced damage, improve blood flow to the skin and increase skin density and hydration. Dark chocolate, in addition, contain a range of potent antioxidants. These antioxidants protect your skin from free radical damage; keeping it soft and supple for long.Leaving the skin with a healthy, glowing and flawless. Because it hydrates, it does also mean it’s anti-aging property as well, which means it reduces wrinkles and fine lines, reduces dark circles, stops grey hair from arriving.

Indulge in a chocolate facial. This is a facial that I’ve tried the other day (forgot to take pics, sorry, next time!)

Mix 1 tablespoon of melted chocolate with 1 tablespoon of thick add-ons free cream and add 1 tablespoon of liquid honey. Apply this mask on yourface and neck for about 15 minutes and then, rinse it with lukewarm water. If you still have some “stickiness” on your face, wipe your skin with your favorite toner.

DIY Facial

I give myself facials often. I had thought that I would share with you my routine of giving yourself a facial 🙂 for excellent skin.

Ingredients:

  1. Rose Water Cleanser or Milk Cleanser
  2. Exfoliate
  3. Mist/Toner
  4. Face Mask (Clay for oily skin, any other type of mask for dry/dehydrated skin
  5. Moisturizer
  6. Wash Cloth

Directions:

  1. With your wash cloth use warm water to wet your face. This opens your pores. Cleanse your skin with a cleanser that best suits your skin type. My faves are milk cleansers, I do like rose water, as well. Chamomile in your cleanser is so good for those who have redness to their skin, even and especially rosacea. Chamomile calms your skin. Redness is a sign of inflamed skin, to which it needs to be calmed.
  2. Exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells. Depending on the exfoliator, for example, an exfoliator that I’m using currently is from Rocky Mountain. It’s a loose product that needs to be mixed with water, so it turns into a scrub paste. Once it does, I use my fingers to rub the mixture all over my face in an upward motion.
  3. I first like to to put my tea kettle on, before I cleanse and exfoliate, so this way the water is ready. Once the tea kettle goes off, I place the water into a large bowl. I place my face over the steam. Steam on the face is amazing. It’s Audrey Hepburn’s must have skin-care; steam facials, so gotta do it. Hydrate my face. You can do this step first if you would like.
  4. I either make my own face masks or I purchase them. Below are some examples of face masks  that I use. Massage your mask onto your face in an upward motion. Leave it on until it dries.
  5. Moisturize with your nice, fresh, hydrating moisturizer

Honey Mask
I’ve used an honey only mask. Apply honey as is onto a cleansed face. Leave it on until it dries. Once it dries, with a warm cloth, wash it off. Skin feels really soft, radiant.

Stacey Says: Honey treats blemishes, as it also nourishes the skin, making it perfect to deliver the right amount of hydration to the skin without it being too much.

All About Almonds! DIY Almond Oil & DIY Almond Masks!

Did You Know?

Almond oil contains vitamins A, B and E, all of which are essential to strengthening and moisturizing your skin

Dry Skin

Almond oil is included in many popular anti-aging creams and other beauty products because of its moisturizing capabilities. Its high levels of vitamins A and E promote moist skin, and can also help to cleanse pores. Clean pores mean fewer blemishes, blackheads and pimples to combat with. Almond oil also helps to encourage skin cells to renew, eliminating dead skin cells from the surface and leaving behind a clean, fresh look, as well as a moisturized and smooth. Plus, almond oil absorbs quickly into your skin and unlike other essential oils, almond oil doesn’t feel greasy or oily at all.

Almond Oil Facial Mask Recipe

Ingredients:

1 Egg

1 tsp almond oil

Directions:

In a blender mix all the ingredients together. Make sure it’s mixed well. On clean skin apply the mask all over the face avoiding eye and lip area. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Wash off in warm water. Lastly, apply moisturizer.

Hair

Almond oil can revitalize dry or damaged hair. Apply almond oil to the hair and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse it out and wash your hair as normal. After a few applications, you will see shine and moisture restored to your hair. Another option is looking for a shampoo or conditioner that contains almond oil.

Need a Massage Oil?

Almond oil makes an excellent massage oil. It helps to soothe and relive muscle pain. Almond oil is also used in aromatherapy to promote relaxation and treat headache pain. Another benefit is massaging almond oil into your skin will also add a brighter sheen and glow to the complexion of your skin. With it being such a great lubricant, it can also reduce the symptoms and appearance of red, itchy areas caused by irritation or rash.

If you do not have almond oil, why not make your own.

Making Your Own Almond Oil
Here’s how:

Place almonds into a blender. Begin blending at a slower speeding gradually working your way to a quicker speed. The almonds will form into a ball, which is perfectly normal. Every now and again you will have to remove the almonds from the sides of the blender. Continue blending until almonds turn into a creamy paste. Add a teaspoon of olive oil to the mix. Blend for another minute. The ball should begin to break down, if not add one more teaspoon of olive oil. Mix until the mixture is  a creamy paste. Lastly, place the paste in a container and store it at room temperature for 1-2 weeks to allow the oil to separate from the nut.

Need an almond mask? Almond masks are my favourite!

This is one mask I didn’t make myself, it’s a recipe that I had found years ago.

Almond Yoghurt Honey Mask

1. 6oz plain yoghurt
2. ¼oz finely-crushed almonds
3. 2tsp honey
4. 2tsp wheatgerm oil

I mix all of the ingredients in a blender.
