FAUX TANNING
When you are faux tanning, you should you tan at least three days in advance. This ensures your tan has set completely, especially if you are using a lotion or a spray. Otherwise, the tan can be removed by powders and can cause irritations, especially for those with sensitive skin. Just remember, when faux tanning, for an even application, make sure to exfoliate the areas you plan on tanning. The product won’t sit between dead skin or on top of it. Don’t forget to moisturize after you have tanned. Not only does this help the tan last twice as long (at least two weeks), it also helps correct the dryness that occurs when you tan.

10 Lazy Summer Girl Beauty Tips

Yes to Coconuts Polishing Body Scrub

Have no fear girls, you can still look fabulous with minimal make-up, or simply use these quick and easy beauty tips to look great all summer long. After all, let’s be honest, we all have days where we need quick and simple tips, or we are just feeling lazy, here you go! Enjoy! For more of my tips, please turn to Cliche for the full 10 Lazy Summer Girl Beauty Tips!

1. Sunglasses & Floppy Hat

Sunglasses are a fashionably great way of protecting your eyes from the sun. But why stop there? Complement those shades with a floppy hat, and you’ll be protecting your head and shoulders while looking classy.

2. Primer

Most primers on the market contain silicone. Silicone is an ingredient that is very good to have in your primer to maintain your makeup application. Come rain or shine, it will prolong your application throughout the day, but remember to prevent your makeup from separating.  To avoid having to touch it up, follow these rules:

  • Don’t apply your makeup with your fingers. The oil on your hands can cause your makeup to separate. Apply your makeup with a foundation brush instead. You can use the same foundation that you have used to apply your primer with your foundation, usually a BB Cream ends up being your friend during this season.
  • Silicone and water do not mix. So, make sure your primer matches your makeup ingredients. Since you are using a silicone based primer, make sure your makeup is silicone based, as well.

Once primer has been applied, apply your BB Cream – light foundation is all you need in the summer. Follow it with blush and gloss, and if you prefer, add eye liner and mascara as a finishing touch.

3. Shave Smartly

If you are anything like us, then all of those steps to shave is just too much. Shave some time of this tedious endeavor by using a shaver that has built-in shave bars and moisturizer, like a Gillette Venus Razor.  You’re legs will feel smooth and look great, because of these added features.

Strobing vs. Contouring

Contouring is out, and strobing is in. But what exactly is strobing? Strobing is a part of the contouring family; it’s practically a cousin or a sister of contouring. Made by famous by Kim Kardashian and her BFF makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, strobing is all about bringing that glow to your complexion, whereas contouring is about accentuating features by making them more prominent or shadowy.

Protect Your Skin & Hair

Facial mask

Protect your skin from the harsh winter chill and avoid flaky skin by staying hydrated throughout the season.

The first step is to exfoliate your skin. It’s always helpful to exfoliate, whether you’re using a natural exfoliator that you’ve purchased or one that’s homemade. Removing dead skin cells is very important as this leaves the skin healthier-looking and—well—healthy. This also allows the skin cells to grow to their full capacity.

Want to make your own natural exfoliator at home? Just follow these simple steps, using two basic ingredients from your kitchen’s pantry.

DIY Beauty Routine for Spa Clients

Editor’s note: When spa clients come in for a beauty treatment, they may look to you as the spa therapist for a sustainable beauty routine that they can take with them when they leave. Makeup artist Stacey Hobbs gives us some helpful tips about where to start.

Makeup is designed to enhance naturally beautiful features, not to camouflage them. When applying makeup, always remember to remove any and all excess product onto a paper towel or the back of the hand. This prevents makeup from looking caked on. In addition, apply makeup in a downward motion to prevent the product from entering the pores. Another option is to apply the product from side-to-side, just so long as it is in a downward motion. Don’t use fingers to apply makeup. The oils in the hand differ from the oils on the face. Mixing these two, plus the oils in makeup products, will cause makeup to separate.

I have broken it all down in Spa Inc Magazine! Get all the details in the mag! 🙂
