DIY Face Mask: Yogurt & Honey

I had recently made this mask. It contains yogurt and honey. Yogurt is so good for your skin. It’s excellent to restore hydration into your skin, (making it an anti-aging ingredient), plus yogurt is for very sensitive skin. It brightens your skin, which means it will brighten your blemishes, dark circles, redness, basically any uneven skin tone. Plus, it naturally reduces fine lines and wrinkles, making it such a great anti-aging face mask. The lactic acid in yogurt will help dissolve dead skin and tighten pores.

As I was making my mask, I will admit I got a little, okay, really generous with the honey. Lol. It became more of a honey mask, than yogurt, even though this face mask does contain yougurt. I would use two table spoons of yogurt, plus one squirt of honey. In that bowl is what too much honey in the yogurt looks like. See, I love honey in my masks, haha. Oops. I will make this recipe better next time ;). I always cleanse my face before applying any mask. My pores need to be prepped and awake, so I get the most out of my face masks. I don’t want any mask I use for my skin to receive a bit of the goodness, as oppose the full amount.

If you have made this recipe, please tell me your thoughts! Share in the comments!

NEW & LOVE: REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask

REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask C$47

A few weeks ago, I was in Sephora looking for a hydrationg face mask that is also for sensitive skin. I came across REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask. You know, I really like this mask.It doesn’t have a strong odor, not that there is a bad odor. It leaves my skin silky soft, hydrated, without any reaction. So, it’s really is a product for all levels of sensitivity of the face. I use  REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask two to three times a week after I cleanse and exfoliate my face. I follow this face mask with moisturizer. I would advice to leave it on for ten minutes before removing it with warm water and a wash cloth.  Oh, and it reduces the sensitivity to the skin, that includes redness (making it great for rosacea), which is uneven skin tone. In addition, red, blotchy, irritated, sunburned, wind-chapped, dry, stressed, or jet-lagged. An original white mushroom extract de-stresses the skin by blocking irritation for an instant sensation of calm and comfort. Skin feels velvety soft and smooth, with an even tone and a luminous, healthy-looking complexion.

DIY Face Mask: Banana & Honey

I had decided to try this what was supposed to be a one ingredient face mask, but eventually turned into a two ingredient face mask; banana and honey. Now, if you plan on storing this face mask in the fridge to use for later in the week, use a whole banana. It makes a large batch. If that’s the case, and you want to opt for honey – apply two or three squirts. I used two generous amounts for one whole banana.

Bananas contain vitamins A,B,C, E, iron, zinc and loads of potassium. Bananas are excellent to reduce inflammatory skin (redness, including rosacea), acne/blemishes, dehydration, sensitive, anti-aging, so it reduces fine lines and wrinkles, thanks to it’s hydrating factor. Bananas are equivalent to the results you receive from botox. The difference is that one of them; you are injecting a needle and the other treatment you are applying a mask onto your face, or eating a banana, or both. 🙂

I love honey in masks, even on it’s own. Honey adds additional hydration for those who have very dehydrated in Winter. My skin is dehydrated all year round, but in the Winter, forget it, talk about loss of hydrated.

Ingredients:

1/3 or 1/4 banana

Fork (I replaced the wisk with a fork)

Honey (optional) – about 1 squirt

Directions:

In a bowl mash the banana to your level of smoothness. Add a honey, if you like. Mix it well. After your skin has been cleansed, with your favourite cleanser, apply this mixture. Leave it on for fifteen minutes. Afterwards, remove it with a warm wash cloth. Finish it with your moisturizer.

When you’ve tried this face mask, please share in the comments!

Homemade Orange Peel Face Mask to Brighten Skin- Oily Skin & Dehydrated Skin

Image result for orange peel

The next time you throw away orange peels after you’ve finished eating your orange or juicing your orange, stop! Save your orange peels. Believe it or not, orange peels are full of antioxidants and nutrients. Would you believe me if I tell you that the orange peel actually contains more Vitamin C the the interior aspect of the fruit? Well, it’s true it is. Who would have thought?! In addition to Vitamin C (Protects skin from free radical damage. Keeps acne at bay and promotes a healthy skin glow), orange peels contain calcium (Helps in renewing worn-out cells and prevents DNA damage. Good for healing dry, flaky, and itchy skin.), potassium (Hydrates dehydrated skin. Helps preserve moisture.) and magnesium (Prevents oxidative stress in skin cells, for youthful, glowing skin.).

This orange peel mask will brighten your skin, which is so good for those who have an uneven complexion,, this includes oily skin and dehydrated skin. It lightens blemishes, black heads, dark circles, brown/age/sun spots and redness.

The only thing you need for this mask is orange peels.

Leave the orange peels out to dry. It should take around four to five days. You do want to turn it into a powder or leave chunks, so it’s an exfolianting mask. If that is the case, then use the exfoliating mask two to three times a week.

This recipe I used on my skin, as I have sensitive skin, dehydrated skin, which are my skin condition. My skin type is normal. I do not have oily skin, however, if you click on the link to my in depth description on dehydrated skin that I have spent years studying since I was diagnosed with it about ten years ago, before it hit mainstream. You will then see that dehydrated skin has symptoms of both oily skin, such as blemishes.

3. Orange Peel Face Mask for Oily, Pimple-Prone Skin

Balance out oily skin with a gentle, yet effective orange peel face mask that will leave your skin fresh and toned.
Balance out oily skin with a gentle, yet effective orange peel face mask that will leave your skin fresh and toned.

Got very oily and acne-prone skin? Worry no more with this simple and cleansing orange peel face mask, which will leave your skin oil-free and moisturized at the same time! Orange peel is known to absorb excess oil or sebum from oily skin. This face mask also uses coconut oil, which works wonders in driving out the ‘bad’ acne-causing oil from deep within your skin pores.

Ingredient
Importance in Face Mask
Coconut oil
Pushes out the excess sebum clogged in your pores. Hydrates and nourishes skin of all types including peeling, acne-prone skin.
Milk
Nourishes with vitamins and minerals. Leaves skin feeling soft.

Tips:

  1. To open up your pores, you can also have a quick splash with warm water as an alternative to steaming.
  2. To liquefy your coconut oil, place it in a bowl of hot water and it will melt in a few seconds.
  3. It doesn’t matter if you use low fat or skim milk instead of full fat milk in this mask.

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons orange peel powder
  • 1 teaspoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix the above ingredients until a thick mixture is formed.
  2. Steam your face to open up your pores.
  3. Apply the mixture onto your face using clean finger tips in a circular motion. Let sit for 15 minutes. In this time, you can take a quick soak in the bath or read a chapter of that book you’ve been meaning to finish. Keep yourself relaxed.
  4. When the time elapses, gently and thoroughly rinse your face and pat it dry with a towel. Your face will have a wonderful glow and feel silky and soft!

Why Homemade Face Masks Are Better:

Homemade face masks are filled with nature’s restorative goodness, in the form of the nutrients, minerals, acids, and oils explained in the tables above, without any of the chemicals that store-bought masks have to contain for an extended shelf life. Fruits are rich in AHAs and other micronutrients that nourish and heal the skin. When expensive skin creams claim to contain ‘fruit compounds,’ they usually only contain a fraction of the nutrients that are found in the fruit itself. Save yourself the money and the chemical damage and make your own homemade skin products.

I need a good at home facial mask that I can do once a week for my pours my nose is covered in black heads.

Remove Black Heads Naturally

Dear, Remove Black Heads Naturally,

Thank you for your question. It’s an excellent one, too.
My favourite at home facial mask that I have been using since I was a teenager to remove blackheads is an egg white mask. Egg whites are excellent for oily skin or the skin condition dehydrated skin. With oily skin, you will have a lot of black heads, rightÉ Whereas, someone like myself who has a common skin condition called dehydrated skin will have a few black heads from time to time. An egg white masks is excellent for either or.

Ingredients:
1 egg
Small bowl
Facial Wash Cloth
Towel

Directions:
1. Seperate egg yolk from the egg white into a small bowl.
2. Cleanse your face with your fave cleanser.
3. Towel dry your face.
4. Apply egg white right onto your face.
5. Keep on until it dries. Skin should feel tight, unable to move.
6. Peel it off.
7. Remove any residue of the egg white mask with a wash cloth,
8. Pat dry.
9. Viola!

Note: When you have dehydrated skin, only use this mask when you have black heads. Oilier skin, should use this more often. About once a week to bi-weekly to keep black heads at bay. Egg whites is excellent to help control sebum (oil).

Making Your Own Almond Oil
Here’s how:

Place almonds into a blender. Begin blending at a slower speeding gradually working your way to a quicker speed. The almonds will form into a ball, which is perfectly normal.
