“I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and… I believe in miracles”. – Audrey Hepburn
1. Perfect Lashes Take Work
Audrey had famously used pins to separate each and every lash after mascara had been applied. To achieve the same effect, use a lash brush, removing excess (extra) product onto a paper towel, applying mascara in a zig zag motion. This creates clump-free lashes, which is what Audrey had created by sticking pins in between her eye lashes.
2. Steam Facials
Audrey also swore by a steam facial twice a week. She liked herbs in it. Steam helps to control acne/blemishes and is also quite good for dry skin as it delivers moisture and hydration. Heat up water in a pot. Pour the water into a bowl. Add herbs into the hot water if you dec

3. Light Foundation
Audrey’s makeup artist, Wally Westmore used a very light foundation to apply on Audrey. This made her face look fuller on screen. This made her large eyes come across as less intense on camera, as well as to balance them out.
Recreate the Look: Using a light foundation, these days a BB Cream or a tinted moisturizer would do the trick. Apply your foundation. A makeup trick is to remove the extra product that’s on your brush by wiping it off on a paper towel. Apply it all over face. Foundation is designed to even out the skin tone. You can even use this makeup trick with a full coverage makeup. The only difference, remove the excess product on the paper towel to the point that there is hardly any product left on your foundation brush, and apply it. It will deliver a light coerage, with a light foundation.
4. Hair Products Make All the Difference
“Philip created Elasticizer personally for Audrey Hepburn over 25 years ago! He met Audrey in 1974 whilst she was making a movie in London, at the time she referred to herself as Mrs Dotti (as she was married to Dr Andre Dotti) and it was with this name that she booked her appointment. It wasnt until she turned up at his office that Philip realised it was Audrey Hepburn! Audrey was after something that would keep her hair looking fantastic on set, due to constant processing and styling. Philip created Elasticizer and the worlds first pre-shampoo treatment was born. This unique pre-shampoo element ensures that hair is left intensely conditioned, but also full of bounce and life. Audrey was thrilled with the results and used Elasticizer for the rest of her life – she had huge tubs of Elasticizer shipped out to Switzerland regularly!” – Philip Kinglsey Blog
5. Discover Your Signature Scent
‘Interdit (1957), the fragrance house’s first cult scent, the floral juice is a tribute to Givenchy’s most glamorous muse, Audrey Hepburn. Her personal scent has been reworked in a combination of spicy pepper and clove, softened by rose, jasmine and violet, and grounded with earthy vetiver and incense. This sophisticated classic is as elegant and lovely as its original wearer.
Yahoo Health had an extremely intimate interview with Hollywood and style icon Audrey Hepburn’s son Luca Dotti. Audrey’s son Luca spills the health secrets that kept her skin shining.
1. Hydration is key.
“She insisted so much on everybody … drinking a lot of water. And that really, today, is so important for the support of everything. She was really about drinking a lot of water and eating a lot of vegetables. It was a matter of how she was brought up.”
2. She had a “detox” day, during which she would eat fruits, vegetables, and yogurt and guzzle water.
“She did it once a month, but usually to get over a jet lag, because you feel bloated after many hours sitting on a plane. … Like a lot of people, she was coming back from trips in Africa and was exhausted — this would help with that.”
3. Potatoes were her bread and butter.
“Sometimes we tend to forget, she was Dutch, so potatoes were a big, big part of her diet. … [And] her father was Irish. Potatoes for her, they were a sustainable thing.”
4. Her zest for life kept her young.
“She had more than a positive outlook. She was naïve in the sense that she was like a young girl. Every time that she found something new, or went to a market, or got a new recipe, she wasn’t blasé. She was so excited, like a little girl. She took life by the day. … She never sounded panicked by the idea of being sick. She was more worried about others, about us, about the kids. … My mother, she was really interested in living the day. She was very interested in life. Even when she was in bed, she was saying oh, when I get better, we have to go to Australia. It’s beautiful there.”
There you have it. Audrey’s beauty secrets. 🙂
